The incredibly elegant and stylish "Victoria Princess Red Heart" by Backes & Strauss.
Backes & Strauss
Backes & Strauss began in 1789, by German immigrant businessmen Georg Carl Backes and is now oldest diamond company in the world. Examples of Backes pieces were displayed at the Great Exhibition of London in 1851 and two full pages of the official catalogue were dedicated to Backes's work. In 1892 the company decided to concentrate on diamonds. Operating as 'Diamond and Gem merchants', travelling was intensified between 1904 and 1910. Today, Backes & Strauss is best known for manufacturing high-end diamond and jewel encrusted fine time pieces in conjunction with Swiss luxury watch brand Franck Muller. The main company operations are run from both Mayfair, London and Geneva in Switzerland. The video below demonstrates the artistry of Backes & Strauss, highlighting their limited edition Regent Diamond Jubilee celebrating Queen Elizabeth's 60th year as British Monarch.
Pictured below is The Victoria Princess Red Heart Watch. Similar in style to other pieces in their Victoria Collection, and inspired by an opulent 19th century brooch from the company's archives. The watch consists of 506 Ideal Cut Diamonds and 98 Rubies set in a face and band of linking heart shapes. Mr Vartkess Knadjian, CEO of Backes and Strauss, said: “We are delighted and honoured to have been selected as one of 40 exclusive brands participating in the Only Watch auction 2013. It is very important for us to give back to the global community.”
